maybe the fire melted them or didn’t have any or pilots couldn’t deploy them?

If it had, they lacked the altitude. The plane crashed from just a couple of hundred feet.

I live just a couple of kilometres from the crash site, and I usually have my radio scanner on during the day, so I heard what later turned out to be their last communication with local ATC.
Also, it is still unclear whether the plane caught fire before or after the crash, and I read just yesterday that the police was requesting any witnesses to come forward.

I just hope the pilots weren’t killed because of a poor design or by cutting corners

You could make it a trifecta with the dog/croc video via ABC Darwin’s Facebook page!
